Ch. Redbird's Double Play

"Candy" |
Vahhala's foundation dam. Better known as "Candy" the escape artist and greatest mother of all. A few of her get inherited her Houdini traits.
Truly a memorable girl. Missing her ROM by one point on one female. |
Am/Can Ch. Vahhala's Typic Topic

"Pretty Boy"
|
Vahhala's foundation stud and the #4 and #5 Top Winning Basset in 1979, 1980. A multi Group winner. #1 Owner/Handled. He missed his ROM by one Champion needing one major. many more were major pointed, this was with him being used at stud very sparingly.
Pretty Boy is the product of a close Redbird line breeding using "The King Ranch theory". Redbird Bassets was comprised of Lyn Mar Acre/Houndsville breeding. |
Ch. Marischen's Jonathan Rebel
 |
Johnny was my first Basset Champion and my foundation stud for my Forestbay lineage. |
Ch. Vahhala's Super Nova
 "Tadpole"
|
Known as "Tadpole" because of the black spot on her back that looked like a Tadpole. Litter sister to Cronus & the first of many successful
foundation breedings. Also the dam of Am/Aust. Ch.Vahhala's Retsof Slugger and his sister Ch.Retsof Vahhala's Sister Sledge and Ch.Retsof Vahhala Jumpin Jack Flash. |
Ch. Vahhala's Cronus
 |
Also a multi group Top Winner used sparingly at stud. Can be found in pedigrees of Cleve's Bassets also. |
Ch. Vahhala's Monitor
 |
Multi Group dog and certainly made his mark on Vahhala dogs. He can be found in many Vahhala related pedigrees of Top winners and Top
Producers. He Gave Redbay Bassets their nice solid dark red color. Producer of several champions. |
Vahhala's Gorgeous George
 |
Another great producing son of Pretty Boy used sparingly at stud. He never made it to the show ring due to an injury. But was certainly a
great producer. Behind all current Vahhala dogs today. He was born very old looking. A true Basset in every way. |
Ch. Vahhala's Fozzie Bear
 |
Pretty Boy son and sire of Ch.Vahhala's Retsof Diana ROM and several other champions. Littermate to Vahhala's Miss Piggy. |
Vahhala's Miss Piggy
 |
Undoubtedly the nicest girl I have ever bred. The dam of Harriet. Our 2nd ROM producing dam. She was pointed and had a breed win from the
puppy class, but wasn't wild about the show world. |
Vahhala's Harriet ROM
 |
Truly a great dam and mother. Bred to Top Winning & Top Producing Am/Can. Ch.Carana's Nickleby O'Birchcrof' ROM she had 5 in the litter of which all 5 became champions and Top Producers and foundation dogs for their respective owners and their kennels.. Tragedy struck Harriet on her 3rd litter when leased and she was spayed. She came back to Vahhala and lived to be 11 years old as the reigning housedog. |
Ch. Vahhala's T.W. Unique
 "Uni-Que"
|
This Monitor daughter was a multi breed winner from the classes and the dam of Ch. producers. Better known as "Uni-Que". |
Am/Aust. Ch. Vahhala's Retsof Slugger
 "Slugger"
|
Slugger is just 8 mos. old in this photo and already a champion. He was also the #8 top Winning Basset in 1984 before he was a puppy champion in
this country, and we didn't even realize it until we opened up the statistics and saw his name! He had numerous group placements and Breed wins in this country. He then went To Australia and became a Best In Show and Top Winner and Producer down under. |
Ch. Vahhala's Retsof Diana ROM
 |
Dam of many Deer Hill and Vahhala Basset greats. Such as Ch.Deer Hill's Chance Connection ROM who I co-bred and in turn produced the great top winning basset of all time and top producer Ch.Deer Hill's The Great Gatsby ROM. Diana was purchased from Vahhala as one of many foundation dogs from Vahhala by Mr.& Mrs. Kintner. |
Ch. Vahhala's Imprint

"Printer"
|
Known as Printer. One of Harriet's little known champion boys but still produced champions and many good producers and building blocks.
Grandsire to my Vahhala's Miss Print and Vahhala's Triple Play a daughter that was a multi breed winner from the puppy classes.. He currently has a son that just finished his championship. The last
produced before passing in March 1997 at the age of 13 years. |
Ch. Vahhala's Quick Print
 "Fuzzy Bear"
|
Known as Fuzzy Bear because he looked like Fozzie Bear. Not to be confused. Fuzzy finished his championship in a whirl and due to
disbanding of many Vahhala dogs was sent to Japan to Sensei Bassets. He recently just passed away at the age of 9 yrs, but certainly left a legacy. A daughter produced in the US is nearing her Championship for Wagtail and Vahhala. |
Vahhala's Miss Print ROM
 "Misty" 4/21/89 - 7/29/02 |
Misty as she was known, was a top producer, a therapy dog for me, waking me up at night when I quit breathing, she visited nursing homes, and children's cancer units as a young girl. She was the reigning matriarch for almost 14 years at Vahhala. Her story of the tornado she went thru was in the Bugler July 1995 issue. We went thru many trials and tribulations together. She saw to it the house ran properly and the puppies were trained with her expert help. She is truly a great representative of the breed in all ways and is sorely mourned by many around the world. She has left her mark on the breed around the world. Those from far and wide that got to meet her will never forget her. Truly the breed has lost one of it's greats. But she will still carry on thru her kids, grandkids and great grandkids from Vahhala. The following are her champion get:
- Ch.Vahhala's Mindsword
- Ch.Vahhala's Sightblinder
- Ch.Vahhala's Sword of Mercy
- Ch.Vahhala's Thumbprint
- Ch.Vahhala's Sure Shot
- Ch.Vahhala's Signature
And the latest her grandson Am/Aust. Grand Ch. Vahhala's Dreamchaser now in Australia.
With two brothers nearing their championship. A double granddaughter Vahhala's Jazz Singer and her brothers Jazz Tune and Jazz Man. |
Ch. Vahhala's Thumbprint
 "Thumper"
|
"Thumper" the dam of the "Dream Team" and Am/Aust. Grand Ch.Vahhala's Dreamchaser. Her sire was a Lyn Mar Acre linebred dog and she exhibits the great attributes of that line. Thumper is the #5 champion for Miss Print.
|
Ch. Vahhala's Mindsword
 |
"Jazz" got out of her yard and was lost and never found. Though serched for extensively, she was never found. She was bred one time and that
produced one puppy who turned out to be a very lovable nice pet. But he
remains with Jazz Bassets and is currently working on his CD. Jazz's
loss left a big hole in the breeding program of Vahhala and Jazz
Bassets. But her sister, Petunia, has tried to make up for her loss.
Jazz was the #3 champion for Miss Print.
|
Ch. Vahhala's Sightblinder
 "Petunia"
|
Petunia, a misty daughter, was linebred on Misty to Am/Aust. Grand Ch. Vahhala's Dreamchaser. This produced 6 beautiful puppies for Vahhala and Jazz Bassets to carry on with. Singer, Dancer, Jazz Man and Jazz Tune. Petunia was the #6 champion for Miss Print. |
Ch. Beauchasseur Backchat
 "Chrissy"
10/29/00 - 1/15/04 |
"Chrissy" from Chris Lawrence's
Beauchassuer Kennel in South Australia. She was a joy and gone too soon |
Am/Aust. Grand Ch. Vahhala's Dreamchaser "Chaser"
|
Chaser gained his title in four weekends of showing after his release from quarantine. During the following 5 years he has proved to be a strong contender within the Hound Group and indeed against All Breeds with 18 All Breeds Best in Shows and 63 All Breeds Best in Groups to his credit. He still continues to be the top Basset Hound in Australia. He is top "Hound" in South Australia and is currently placed 5th Hound Nationally. (Dogz Online)
Chaser has qualified and competed in SA Battle of the Champions each year since his arrival into Australia.
Also a Specialty Best in Show winner, this lovely hound has a superb temperament and he excells in type balance topline soundness and his wonderful true movement.
Chaser is also producing top winning pups that show his depth of quality, style and correct true movement. He has sired 23 champions with another 5 pointed and well on the way to their titles.
He has Champion offspring in America, Canada, New Zealand, Japan and Australia.
Chaser is at stud to approved bitches. I believe as a responsible breeder it is my duty to make him available so as to have a lasting impact not just on my own kennels but to bassets as a whole in Australia.
Eye and VWD clearances available on request.
|
Ch Vahhala's Jazz Singer "Singer"
|
The future of Vahhala. Singer a double Misty granddaughter will take up the position her grandmother left for her
and will be the reigning queen now. Singer was bred by Lisa Spalding Jazz Bassets, who I thank for doing
this breeding for me to carry on my old lines.
|
Am/Can.Ch.Vahhala's Starchaser "Chase"
|
Chase sire is Am/Aust. Grand Ch. Vahhala's Dreamchaser
|
